Lasting Impressions
I’ve always had a fascination with objects and possession - more specifically, with the infinite tiny ways objects change (or evolve?) over the course of time and use. As these changes take place - a scratch, a ding, a worn corner - an object ceases to be “a” thing and becomes “the” thing. Individuality (and, I would argue, beauty) is imperfection.
I want to explore these ideas in a photography project, and I’m going to need help. What this project will ultimately be, I don’t know. But I do know I’ll need objects and, more likely than not, the people they belong to. So (if you’re a real person who actually interacts with me in the real world) please bring me your stuff - your grandfather’s pocket watch, your lucky zippo, your favorite teddy bear with the missing eye - and let me take some pictures of it. I’m sure to repay the favor.
Perfection will not be permitted.
